ARTIST’S COLLECTION: JACQUES LEONARD (1931–2026) Born in Paris in 1931, Jacques Léonard studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1953 to 1957. A resident artist at the Casa Velázquez in Madrid in 1959, he took part in the major Parisian art exhibitions from the 1950s onwards: the Salon d’Automne and the Salon de la Jeune Peinture. His work, situated at the crossroads between figurative art and a freer form of expression, is characterised by a sensitivity to colour, texture and the construction of forms. Landscapes, figures and scenes from his travels form the main themes of a body of work in which observation of reality is accompanied by a personal and expressive interpretation. A recipient of the Taylor Prize, the Charles Cottet Prize and the Grand Prix des Artistes Français, amongst others, Jacques Léonard has seen his work included in several public and private collections. Some of his works have been acquired by the State and the City of Paris. This studio sale traces the artist’s career from 1950 to 2025, with a selection of large-format paintings, works on paper and lithographs featuring prominently in the collection. Condition: The entire studio collection is in a good state of preservation. Regarding the ‘slight wear and tear’ mentioned in the descriptions of the works, this refers to slight traces of rubbing, tiny losses or minor dents. Some canvases have damage; the description sheet specifies the extent of the damage.
