The applicable VAT rate is 20 per cent, except for books (5.5 per cent); VAT on fees may be refundable upon submission of supporting documentation, within a maximum period of one month. Payment must be made immediately after the sale, exclusively by bank transfer or credit card, depending on the amounts and the country of origin of the card. Cash payments are subject to restrictions in accordance with current regulations. Cheques are not accepted. The highest bidder and the last bidder shall be the buyer, provided that the auctioneer accepts the final bid by declaring the lot sold. The buyer shall only become the owner of the lot once payment has been effectively made. The auction house shall not be held liable for any storage period, as the item is deemed to be under the buyer’s sole responsibility from the moment the lot is declared sold. In the event of a tie between two bids, recognised as valid by the Auctioneer and recorded in the minutes, the lot shall be put up for sale again, with all bidders present, bidding live or by telephone, being entitled to participate in this second auction. Collection of lots may be deferred until payment has been received and confirmed. If you are the successful bidder online, you authorise the Auctioneer to use your credit card details to process payment, in full or in part, for your purchases, including the buyer’s premiums. Any information provided by the Auction House regarding the existence of restoration work or damage affecting the lot is intended to facilitate its inspection by the prospective buyer but remains subject to their personal judgement. Re-lining, parquet work or lining, which constitute a conservation measure rather than a defect, are not highlighted. Dimensions are given for guidance only. The absence of any indication of restoration, damage or incident in no way implies that an item is free from any current or past defects or repairs. Conversely, the mention of one defect does not imply the absence of another. In any event, the items are therefore sold ‘as is’ with their imperfections and defects, and no cancellation of the sale will be permitted on the grounds of routine restoration, minor damage or a condition that does not comply with the description.
