A journey through the history of currency: This auction brings together a remarkable collection of coins, banknotes and historical documents from carefully curated collections, offering enthusiasts and collectors alike a rich and varied overview of numismatics. The highlight of this sale is a remarkable collection devoted to counterfeiting. Comprising counterfeit banknotes, specimen notes sent by various central banks as part of international investigations, and an exceptional collection of documentary material, it is further enriched by an exceptional photographic dossier chronicling the famous Bojarski affair, featuring photographs of clandestine workshops, printing presses and items seized by the authorities. The sale also brings together a fine selection of French banknotes, dominated by the famous ‘Flameng’ note – a masterpiece of banknote engraving – alongside other iconic issues from the Banque de France. Ancient coins feature just as prominently, with the collection of the Count of M., rich in Oriental and French coins, including a remarkable set of feudal deniers. Finally, this sale also features Greek and Roman coins. A collection of coins from Paris and Monaco rounds off this selection, offering collectors a wide range of issues representative of the history of numismatics. Fees: 26% (including VAT) in addition to the hammer price for gold coins minted after 1800; 30% (including VAT) for collectable coins in gold, silver and other metals
