FEES
A flat-rate fee of 1.5 per cent, or 1.8 per cent including VAT, will be applied to bids placed on DrouotLive.
PESCHETEAU-BADIN, a company specialising in the voluntary sale of furniture at public auction, is governed by the Act of 10 July 2000.
ESTIMATES & WARRANTIES
The estimates given in the catalogue are for guidance only.
Guarantees: Dimensions, weights, colours in reproductions and other information are provided for guidance only.
Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the precise moment of their sale, with any defects or imperfections;
The absence of any mention of routine restoration, damage, retouching or any other issue in the catalogue, in condition reports or on labels, or even during verbal announcements, does not in any way imply that an item is free from defects.
As the pre-auction exhibition has enabled prospective buyers to assess the condition of the lots offered for sale, no claims will be accepted once the lot has been sold.
With regard to ivory lots, please note that these specimens comply with Regulation (EC) No 338/97 of 9 December 1996, Article 2-W, and were acquired prior to 1 June 1947. For export outside the EU, a CITES export permit will be required; the cost of this will be borne by the future purchaser.
As dismantling the miniatures can sometimes be delicate, they have been examined visually.
THE AUCTION
Potential buyers are invited to contact Pescheteau-Badin prior to the sale so that their identity and bank details can be registered.
The auction will follow the order of the catalogue.
Pescheteau-Badin is free to set the bidding increments, and bidders are required to comply with these.
Pescheteau-Badin reserves the right to withdraw, combine or split lots.
The highest bidder and the last person to bid shall be the successful bidder.
In the event of a tied bid recognised as valid by Pescheteau-Badin, the item will be put up for sale again, and members of the public present may bid.
SALE CHARGES:
The sale is expressly for cash payment.
In addition to the hammer price, successful bidders shall pay the following charges: 30% including VAT (25% + 20% VAT)
For lots marked with an asterisk (*), successful bidders shall pay, in addition to the hammer price, statutory fees of 14.28% including VAT (11.9% + 20% VAT).
A flat-rate surcharge of 1.5 per cent, or 1.8 per cent including VAT, will be applied to bids placed on DrouotLive.
PAYMENT
Payment for the lot must be made in cash, covering the full price, fees and taxes, even if an export licence is required.
The successful bidder may pay using the following methods:
- Up to €1,000 for private individuals resident in France and for French, EU or foreign traders.
- Up to €15,000 for individuals not resident in France (the nationality stated on a foreign passport alone is not sufficient to determine residence; a certificate of domicile issued by an authority in the buyer’s country is required)
- By credit/debit card
- By bank transfer to the following account: Société Générale, 9 boulevard des Italiens, 75002 Paris.
(IBAN) FR76 3000 3028 2700 0201 4571 108 (SWIFT) SOGEFRPP or (bank code) 30003 (branch code) 002827 account number 000020145711 (RIB key) 08
- by cheque: lots will only be released to the successful bidder once the cheque has cleared; in the event of payment by cheque or bank transfer, the release of the items may be deferred until the payment has cleared.
In the event of non-payment by the successful bidder, following a formal notice that has remained unheeded, the item shall be put up for sale again at the seller’s request on the grounds of a void bid by the defaulting successful bidder; if the seller does not make such a request within one month of the auction, the sale shall be automatically rescinded, without prejudice to any damages owed by the defaulting successful bidder.
COMBATING MONEY LAUNDERING AND THE FINANCING OF TERRORISM
All buyers are required to provide the auctioneer’s office with a copy of a valid identity document and proof of address. You may be asked to provide evidence of the source of the funds used to settle the invoice.
DELIVERY OF LOTS
Lots will only be released to the purchaser once the full purchase price, fees and taxes have been paid. In the meantime, Pescheteau-Badin may charge the purchaser storage fees for the lot, and possibly handling and transport costs.
STORAGE & DISPATCH
After the sale:
Once the lot has been awarded, the item will be the sole responsibility of the successful bidder.
The buyer is responsible for insuring their purchases; Pescheteau-Badin accepts no liability for any damage the item may sustain, with effect from the moment the bid is declared. The export licence procedure may take up to five weeks; however, this timeframe may be significantly reduced depending on how promptly the buyer provides their instructions to Pescheteau-Badin.
Storage:
Following the sale, the furniture, paintings and other items sold may be collected by the successful bidders in the auction room after payment has been made, until 7.00 pm or by 10.00 am the following day; after this time, they will be stored at the Drouot Storage Facility, located on the third basement level of the Auction House.

All storage fees, as per the current pricing terms, must be settled with the Hôtel Drouot storage department before collection of lots.
This is a chargeable service, subject to the following conditions:
- Administration fee (including VAT) per lot: €5 / €10 / €15 / €20 / €25, depending on the nature of the lot*
- From the 5th day onwards, storage fees (including VAT) per lot: €1 / €5 / €10 / €15 / €20, depending on the nature of the lot*
The administration fee is capped at €50 (including VAT) per collection. A 50 per cent reduction on storage fees is granted to overseas customers and art market professionals based outside Paris (upon presentation of supporting documentation).
Please note that any lot not collected within one year of its arrival at the Storage Department will be deemed abandoned and ownership will be transferred to Drouot Enchère as security to cover storage charges.
In the case of purchases of small items and subject to Pescheteau-Badin’s agreement, certain lots may be stored free of charge on our premises for 15 days following the sale; after this period, charges may be applied.
Dispatch of lots: Pescheteau-Badin does not handle dispatches.
Before and after the sale, you may obtain quotes for the delivery and dispatch of your lots from a carrier of your choice.
