MILLON organises auctions twice a year devoted entirely to taxidermy and natural history. Birds, large mammals, insects and butterflies from around the world abound. These sales celebrate the treasures the world has to offer – those that scientists, scholars and collectors have been preserving and studying since time immemorial. The star of the sale is the skeleton of the carnivorous dinosaur DUBREUILLOSAURUS VALESDUNENSIS, the only known specimen of its species and dating back 167 million years (Middle Jurassic – Bathonian). It is one of the most significant palaeontological discoveries made in France over the last thirty years. It is the only specimen currently known of its species and serves as its holotype. (€250,000 / €350,000) For fishing enthusiasts, the spotlight is on two legendary figures: Charles Ritz and Ernest Hemingway. The sale will bring these two personalities together through three exceptional lots: Charles Ritz’s personal collection (€8,000 / €12,000), six historic flies used during his stay on the Alta River in Norway (€1,500 / €2,500), and twelve trout flies that belonged to Ernest Hemingway (€8,000 / €12,000). Through these objects – tiny in size but immense in their history – an entire era of sport fishing is brought back to life.
