Large cartel and its bracket in Boulle marquetry of brass on a black background of Bérain-style scrolls and rich ornamentation of chased and gilded bronze. Behind a circular glass door, the dial with white enamelled plates shows the hours in Roman numerals, and is underlined by a plate bearing the inscription MARTINOT (?) à Paris. The lower part is decorated with a Muse with a shell lyre and a putto on a Bacchus mask. The jambs are adorned with acanthus leaves and the pediment is centred on a bifron in a crowned cartouche. The ensemble is surmounted by an Allegory of Time embodied by Saturn with outstretched wings and a scythe seated on a terrestrial globe. The plate movement is numbered 1831.12 and marked VINCENTI & Cie 1855 Médaille d'argent (the balance wheel is missing, the marquetry is slightly damaged and the right side glass is damaged). The bracket is in the same style.
Regency style.

Dimensions of the console: Height 35 cm - Width: 58.5 cm - Depth: 30 cm
A Regency period cartel, similar to our model, with a movement signed CGG MESNIL in Paris, was sold at auction on 4 May 2023 in Mantes-la-Jolie.
