CHEST OF DRAWERS in rosewood veneer, inlaid with a butterfly-wing pattern within alternating light, green and black wooden frames; opens with three drawers, followed by two drawers without a crossbar; rounded sides with simulated fluting decoration; rests on turned legs. Two traces of a C. M. MAGNIEN maker’s mark. Top in grey Sainte-Anne marble. Louis XVI period. (Variations in the veneer) Gilded bronze decoration on the drawer handles and lock plates. 88.5 x 129 x 58 cm Claude-Mathieu MAGNIEN, admitted as a master craftsman in Paris on 17 April 1771.
