Old restorations
On the back of the frame a label with a penciled number 636 and a red wax seal with the initials MB.
Provenance :
- Probably the collection of Emma Meizemaker de Vergières (1849-1932) from Bergues, wife of Adrien Joseph Auguste Arnauld de Praneuf, (1844-1905), lawyer, vice-president of the Prefecture Council in Chambéry, corresponding member of the Académie de Savoie, sub-prefect of the Toulon district;
- Collection Clotilde Roland (1886-1957), received from the former as a gift, her wedding witness on 19 June 1908 to Georges Raclot (1874-1957), polytechnicien and marine engineer, Toulon;
- By descent, private collection, Lyon.
Gentileschi. Saint Dorothy. Canvas. Dated to her first Neapolitan period (1630 1638). Its attribution has been confirmed by art historian Keith Christiansen. The painting's provenance traces it through a French private lineage originating in Toulon.
