A ‘wapinyan’ sculpture, literally meaning ‘children of the yams’ (waapi: yams and nyan: son or daughter). This sculpture was used during initiation ceremonies and depicts a male figure with a beard, his arms pressed against his sides and his knees drawn inwards.
