Patriotic bronze sculpture from the 1914–1918 period depicting a crowing cockerel trampling on military insignia in high relief against a bas-relief background of a wall, the whole resting on a veined grey marble plinth with a bronze band bearing the inscription ‘on ne passe pas’ and a bas-relief plaque depicting French soldiers, known as ‘poilus’, gathered around a cannon.
