Théophile Alexandre STEINLEN (1859–1923)
The Quays of Geneva

46 × 56 cm
Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen has strong historical ties to Geneva. Born in Switzerland, the artist began studying theology there before turning definitively to drawing and settling in Montmartre.
Today, Geneva preserves his legacy. The Museum of Art and History (MAH) holds a rich collection of his prints and realistic drawings. Furthermore, the famous private collection at the Petit Palais in Geneva houses his major masterpieces, notably the socially conscious paintings *Les Mineurs* and the monumental *Apothéose des chats*.
