AN ILLUSTRATION FROM ASADI TUSI’S *GARSHASPNAMA* (M. 1073): ZAHHAK WATCHES GARSHASP’S FEATS ON A HUNT Shiraz, Safavid Iran, c. 1580 Gold, pigments and ink on paper; several horsemen hunting ibex, wild beasts, an onager and a bear in a rocky landscape; the Persian text in black Nasta’liq script is copied in four columns, text on the reverse copied in four columns divided by small illuminated triangular cartouches, jadwal in gold and pigments, title label, creases and small tears, chips, minor retouching, framed.
