TUNISIAN WOMEN’S BEAUTY SET
Tunisia, c. 1905
A set of three carved wooden containers decorated with gadroons and plant motifs, with hallmarked vermeil mountings: a pear-shaped kohl bottle on a shell-shaped pedestal, with a tubular neck fitted with an applicator stopper topped by a fan-shaped motif, and featuring two openwork side handles; the applicator rod is preserved; a pot with a conical lid on three feet, topped with a bird; and a small pot with a conical lid on three claw-shaped feet, also topped with a bird; in good overall condition.
