A tall, truncated-conical kettledrum (Stopa) resting on a silver pedestal, 84 zolotniks (875 thousandths), with a guilloché wave pattern; in the centre, an AO monogram in Gothic script within a cartouche, the upper rim engraved with a proverb in Old Russian, the lower rim engraved in Russian with the dedication ‘To Alexander Ivanovich, from his musician friends, Petrograd 1915’, interior in vermeil. Very good condition. Moscow, 1870. Silversmith: PO in Cyrillic, most likely standing for Pavel OVCHINNIKOV. Weight: 183.7 g. H. 14 x D. 7.5 cm.
