KISTER was commanding officer of the 1st Regiment of Scouts of the Imperial Guard, established on 4 December 1813. This regiment was attached to the Mounted Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard, hence its name, the Scout-Grenadiers Regiment. Command of the 1st Regiment was entrusted to Colonel Claude TESTOT-FERRY, formerly of the Empress’s Dragoons and a former aide-de-camp to Marshal MARMONT. The unit consists of four squadrons of 250 men each, commanded by:
PIERRE, a veteran of the 10th Regiment of Mounted Chasseurs (like Claude TESTOT-FERRY) and of the Mounted Chasseurs of the Guard; DELAVILLANE; LEPOT of the Mounted Grenadiers of the Guard; KISTER. Most of the officers were recruited directly from the Imperial Guard. KISTER was mortally wounded during the French campaign, at the Battle of
Château-Thierry, on 7 March 1814 (according to an attached note from the Ministry of War). Reference: Olivier de LAPRAY.
