Light cavalry sabre, Model 1822/1882, probably belonging to a non-commissioned officer, with a three-pronged brass guard, hallmarked, and a crossguard engraved with: ‘1st Spahis’ and a crescent moon, pommel engraved with the monogram: ‘T C’ intertwined, tang covered in leather, filigree; curved blade marked: ‘Mre d’armes de Chƒtt February 1896 Cavrie Lre Mle 1822’; nickel-plated iron scabbard, a single beaded strap; length 110.5 cm. Late 19th century. Very good condition.
