Description
Freddy Timms (Kitja) (circa 1944-2017) Gum Creek Crater 2010 Ochre on Belgian linen canvas signed on the back 60 x 60 cm Provenance: > Commissioned by Narrangunny art traders > Private collection Paris A certificate from Narrangunny art traders will be given with the work According to the ancestors, this place was created in ancient times by a meteorite that fell to earth. A small piece of this meteorite broke off and fell onto the Lissadel plain, creating a crater that came to be known as Little Wolf Creek. Freddie remembers when he was a child being told the story of the creation of this site and how the crater generated many blasts that extinguished the bushfires. In the painting, he depicts the mountainous region in black, the river (Gum Creek) in the centre and the plain, depicted in white, with the crater in black. MJ
