An official regulatory measure: a patinated brass chopine in a baluster shape, resting on a moulded pedestal, fitted with a solid side handle featuring a thumb rest. The neck bears the inscription: DEMYSEPTIER / MARINE DU HAVRE between the coats of arms of the City of Paris and the Royal Navy on either side of the handle. The body is engraved with: CETTE MESURE A ESTE ETALONNEE / SUR LA MATRICE DES ETALONNEURS / DE L’HOTEL DE VILLE DE PARIS SUIVANT / LE PROCES VERBAL DU 13-8E-1768. Late 18th century, between 1768 and 1793. Height: 11.50 cm
