Description
LUIGI SPAZZAPAN (1889-1958) Ink on paper. Label on the back showing the provenance of the Galleria d'Arte Beniamino and photo of a letter dated 1972 from the Marlborough Gallery. Size: 48 x 66 cm - An Italian painter of Slovenian origin, Luigi Spazzapan was one of the most important representatives of abstract art in Italy between the wars. Influenced by trips to Munich with Kandinsky, he assimilated the Art-Nouveau style, Futurism, Expressionism and abstract art. In 1923, in Padua, he took part in an exhibition of the Futurist group founded by the artists George Carmelich, Sophronius Pocarini and Mirko Vucetich.
