GIACOMO GABBIANI (1900-1989) Portrait of Mrs Vaiani (200 x 93.5 cm) Very large oil on canvas signed and dated 1944 lower left. Canvas size: 200 x 93.5 cm - With frame: ca.220 x 113.5 cm - An Italian painter, draughtsman, watercolourist and engraver born in Milan, he trained with Riccardo Brambilla and Giuseppe Amisani. He made his debut in 1925 at the National Exhibition of the Brera Academy and at the Permanente in Milan. His subjects were diverse, including portraits, genre scenes and sports, and he used a traditional painting technique. In 1948 he founded the Libera Gabbiani Academy in Milan.
