Jean Aujame (1905–1965) Animal, lichen, grey wall Watercolour on paper, signed lower right 25.5 x 19 cm Provenance: > Galerie Bertrand Trocmez, Clermont-Ferrand > Private collection, Auvergne Condition report: Framed, visible dimensions Jean Aujame was a French painter and lithographer who trained in Rouen before settling in Paris in 1930. Following a stay in Algeria and several trips around Europe, he developed a figurative body of work centred on the landscapes and villages of central France. A prisoner of war during the war, he subsequently settled in Sauvagnat-Sainte-Marthe, where he founded an artists’ colony known as the ‘École de Sauvagnat’.
