Description
Buddha
Myanmar (Burma) circa 18th - 19th century
Copper alloy Height 44 cm
Classical representation of the Buddha seated in vajraparyanka on a high double lotiform base,
while taking the earth as witness, bhumispasha mudra.
According to information provided to the current owner at the time of its acquisition, this
sculpture was acquired in Ladakh (perhaps brought back from a trip or pilgrimage?)
This could explain the fact that the face is painted 'Tibetan style'.
