(Oxidation)
Provenance: Former family collection. The object may have come from one of the present owner's great-grandfathers, born in 1873, a non-commissioned officer trained at Saint-Cyr, who spent time in Asia from 1898. Present in China from 1901, where he stayed for over ten years, he brought back many objects during his travels, as non-commissioned officers were able to keep certain gifts received from their superiors. These objects were then passed down through the generations.
