Description
CHINA, 17th century
Bronze incense burner
Mounted on a short foot, with a domed body slightly flared at the opening, flanked by two ring handles with commas. A two-character Xuande mark stamped under the base.
Height: 7 cm
Width: 15.5 cm
Provenance: French family collection. Supposedly brought back from Asia in the mid-twentieth century by a relative of the family known as Marcel. The presence of a book dedicated by Michel Beurdeley to Marcel (1962) testifies to his interest in Far Eastern art. The collection has been passed down to the current owners.
