Description
ƒ CHINA, Ming dynasty, Hongzhi period, 16th century Rare porcelain jug Form inspired by Islamic metal models, the circular body with marked shoulder surmounted by a high fluted cylindrical neck ending in a flared and narrowed lip, entirely decorated in various shades of cobalt blue with lotus friezes and foliate scrolls. The neck is decorated with registers of superimposed petals, Greek foliage and stylised lotus motifs. Handle and spout missing.
