ƒ CHINA, Ming dynasty, 16th century Rare porcelain jar Of ovoid form, resting on a flared base, the rounded shoulder surmounted by a straight neck ending in a flared lip, entirely decorated in various shades of cobalt blue with a continuous scene depicting two ferocious five-clawed dragons depicted in profile, pursuing the sacred pearl among the clouds. The shoulder is underlined by a frieze of floral scrolls, the lower part decorated with overlapping upright petals. Unglazed biscuit base. Height : 40 cm Diameter : 42 cm
