Description
CHINA, Guangxu mark and period, 19th century Porcelain vase The narrow base, the tapered body with high marked shoulder surmounted by a short neck slightly flared at the opening, presenting an incised decoration in the paste of dragons chasing the sacred pearl in the clouds, the whole covered with a monochrome turquoise glaze. A six-character Guangxu mark in cobalt blue under the base. Height: 40 cm Diameter: 20 cm (Firing defects on the foot) Provenance: Collection of the current owners' maternal grandmother, Mrs Leewitz, who lived in New York in the early 20th century. Around 1930, she travelled to Asia for around a year, during which time she acquired various objets d'art directly from Asia. Passed down through the generations.
