Description
CHINA, Ming style, 18th century
A bronze and cloisonné enamel ritual pot known as a "kundika". The globular body decorated with scrolls and lotus flowers between bands of petals, an angular spout and fitted with a removable lid, the long pinched faceted neck embellished with a ball decorated with petal motifs is surmounted by an ormolu element in the form of a flower bulb. The whole is presented on a dome-shaped base encircled by chased ormolu petals and foliage. The whole in polychrome red, green, blue, yellow and white on a turquoise-blue background of lotus flowers. A double Vajra incised under the base. A four-character Qianlong mark incised under the base in the margin of the double vajra.
