Description
CHINA, Jiaqing period A bell in gilt bronze and cloisonné enamels, of flared form richly decorated with taotie masks, qilong dragons and archaic motifs. The body is structured in registers by a gilt bronze central fillet simulating a projecting rush. The whole is suspended from a wooden frame carved to resemble a portico, supported by a ring topped by two facing dragons whose bodies are carved in high relief and openwork.
