CHINA, Neolithic period, Hongshan culture A rare yellow jade ornament, tubular in shape, flaring out towards a gadrooned upper end, carved in the shape of a horse's hoof, the other, narrower end is pierced by two holes. The yellow-coloured stone has russet mottling and white inclusions. Height: 20 cm Width: 12 cm (Old chips) Provenance: - Brought back from China by the secretary Gaston Valette in September 1955 on the occasion of the parliamentary mission led by Edmond Michelet (mission to China and Vietnam from 5 to 27 September 1955). Given to his godson Adolphe Lavrat in 1961, then by descent - Monaco Collection
