CHINA, Neolithic period, Hongshan culture A rare celadon jade ornament, tubular in shape, flaring towards a sloping upper end, carved in the shape of a horse's hoof, the other, narrower end is pierced by two holes. The celadon-coloured stone has rust and white inclusions. Height: 14.5 cm Width: 9.8 cm (Old chips, small chip in lower part) Comparison: For a similar model, see Christie's sale of 21 March 2025 in New-York, lot n° 1001. Provenance: - Brought back from China by the secretary Gaston Valette in September 1955 on the occasion of the parliamentary mission led by Edmond Michelet (mission to China and Vietnam from 5 to 27 September 1955).
