Description
CHINA, Northern Qi dynasty (550–577)
A rare carved white marble bust of Guanyin, depicted standing in a solemn pose. The figure is clad in a long monastic robe with flowing, even folds, cascading vertically down either side of the body. The hands, now missing, were probably positioned in front of the bust in a ritual gesture.
Mounted on a suitable plinth.
