This original drawing by Albert Tissandier, dated 5 August 1893, was produced during his trip to Japan. It was published to illustrate his travelogue entitled ‘An Ascent of Fuji Yama (Japan)’, which appeared in the scientific and popular science journal *La Nature* (founded with his brother Gaston Tissandier) during 1894.
