Description
Turquoise-glazed biscuit tripod incense burner, China, Kangxi period (1662–1722)
Covered in a beautiful turquoise-blue glaze, this ding-shaped incense burner features a compressed, curved cylindrical body beneath a straight rim surmounted by two bridge-shaped handles. It rests on three bevelled feet that taper towards the bottom. Beneath the base is the label ‘A. S. Gompertz, 51, rue de Miromesnil – guaranteed antique’.
Height: 6.8 cm; height including handles: 8.5 cm; diameter: 10.8 cm
The label historically corresponds to the gallery and appraisal firm of Armand-Samson Gompertz (A.S. Gompertz), which specialised in importing antique porcelain from the Far East in the early 20th century.
