Description
Guan-style porcelain brush-rinse, 18th–19th century
Shaped like the head of a lingzhi mushroom, the brush washer is entirely covered in a thick bluish-grey glaze criss-crossed by a fine network of black and brown crackles. It rests on a short, brown-glazed foot. The treatment of the brown-glazed foot, in the ‘tiezu’ (‘iron foot’) style, is reminiscent of Guan-style wares from the Southern Song dynasty.
