Description
Lidded blue-and-white porcelain vase decorated with figures, China, 19th century
Ovoid in shape, the body is decorated with a woman wearing a pleated dress, standing in a garden beneath a wutong tree, looking at a man kneeling before her, who is pointing to an incense burner and a vase placed on a rock. The shoulder is decorated with a ruyi head motif, and a frieze known as ‘broken glass’ adorns the lower part of the body. There is a double blue circle at the base. The domed lid is decorated with a child sitting in a garden.
