Description
Lantern comprising a globe and a pedestal in blue and white porcelain, China, 20th century
The globe features a translucent ‘rice grain’ pattern. Set between two friezes of flowers, it is decorated with three large medallions depicting a fisherman in a lakeside landscape, a bird on a flowering plum tree with butterflies above peonies, and a female horseman near a fortress. The pedestal, fixed to a wooden base and flared at the bottom, is adorned with figures in a landscape. Small flowers decorate the bulging part of the base, and a frieze of leiwen adorns the upper rim.
Height: 32.5 cm
One side of the base is pierced.
