Description
Langyao-style baluster vase glazed in ‘ox’s blood’ colour, China, 20th century
The vase is covered with a glaze displaying a dense network of crackles. Beige in colour at the neck, the glaze takes on a pink hue around the body and intensifies to become red, forming vertical streaks running down towards the foot. The interior and underside are glazed in beige. This gradient effect is due to the fluidity of the copper-based glaze during firing.
Height: 46 cm
Wooden plinth.
