Small lidded box with lobed lid, in cinnabar lacquer, China, late 18th – early 19th century
The top of the lid is carved with two figures leaning on a large rock beneath a wutong tree, near which a waterfall flows. The scene is surrounded by a frieze of leiwen. The edges of the box are engraved with a repeating motif of small flowers within a hexagonal panel.
