Description
Sèvres National Manufactory, Beaune Vase, 1905–1906. In glazed porcelain, with a slender shape and bevelled sides, an elongated neck and a hexagonal foot, decorated with flowers, marked ‘Manufacture Nationale décoré à Sèvres 1906’ and bearing the ‘S 1905’ stamp beneath the base
Art Nouveau period H. 19 cm Designed by Alexandre Sandier, artistic director of the Manufacture from 1897 to 1916, this faceted vase—emblematic of the 1900 style—has featured numerous decorative motifs throughout its history.
In the early 20th century, the vase designs created at the Sèvres Manufactory were named after towns, then after rivers, from 1918 to 1920. From 1923 onwards, they were named after their designer.
