MERCIER FRÈRES (1828–1985) – PARIS
A dining room set in moulded and carved walnut with an apple motif, comprising a two-section sideboard, the upper section opening at the front via two glazed doors and the lower section via two solid doors surmounted by two drawers running around the middle, and a corner base with curved legs, a display cabinet with a quadrangular body, opening at the top via a glazed door revealing an interior with two glass shelves and a mirrored back, and at the bottom via a solid door, on a corner base with small curved feet; and a serving trolley with a quadrangular body surmounted bya recessed arched pediment and a rectangular top in red marble veined with white, opening at the front via two solid doors surmounted by two drawers set around the middle, on a corner base with straight legs joined at the bottom by a crossbar forming a storage compartment. Brass fittings and handles featuring daisy and foliage motifs (scratches, scuffs, stains).
Included is a coloured pencil drawing depicting our sideboard in a red-stained wooden frame.
