Description
Charles-Bertrand D’ENTRAYGUES (1851–1929)
Children After School
Oil on canvas
Signed lower right
101 x 151 cm (minor restoration) Note: The painter is known for his style of depicting genre scenes reminiscent of popular imagery, with a touch of humour, featuring family interiors, children at play and anecdotal street scenes – elements that would become the hallmark of his style throughout his career. He probably used members of his own family as models, whom we can recognise in many of the paintings
