Brion Gysin (1916–1986) Chansons de Marrakech 1959 Watercolour on paper, signed and dated in the lower right-hand corner, titled in the lower left-hand corner 33 x 24 cm Condition report: In the frame: From 10 April to 12 July 2026, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris is presenting the first retrospective of the work of the American-Canadian artist Brion Gysin in a Parisian museum. The curators’ introduction reads as follows: “Born in Great Britain in 1916, Brion Gysin is a multifaceted artist – a painter, poet, performer, photographer and musician often associated with the Beat Generation. As the inventor of the Cut-up and the Dreamachine, his work lies at the intersection of painting and writing, drawing on an ever-changing range of visual languages.”
