Dado (1933–2010) Perec, 1984 Watercolour, Indian ink and coloured ink on paper Signed and dated lower right Titled lower centre 24 x 15 cm Provenance: Paul and Jacqueline Canfrère Collection Note: In 1976, Dado collaborated with Perec on the publication of *Alphabets*, a collection of 176 poems in eleven lines by Georges Perec, published by Éditions Galilée (Michel Delorme), which he illustrated with 21 drawings in Indian ink and a black engraving. Dado reproduced these drawings in colour for a second edition, published in 1985, such as the piece presented here, which is an original drawing executed by Dado for page 148 of the second edition of *Alphabets* (a watercolour version of the drawing for page 75 of the first edition Furthermore, Dado discusses his collaboration with Perec in *Portraits en fragments*, an interview conducted by Christian Derouet, 1981–1988 (Strasbourg, Editions L’Atelier contemporain, 2023, p. 112 We would like to thank Ms Amarante Szidon for the information she has kindly provided us with regarding this work.
