Note:
A leading artist of the Art Deco period, Alexandre Kelety (active between 1918 and 1940) is chiefly renowned for his bronze sculptures and his chryselephantines (a combination of bronze and ivory), which embody the elegance and dynamism of the interwar period. Of Hungarian origin but based in France, he distinguished himself through his ability to capture movement, whether in the fluidity of dancers, the power of athletic figures or the stylised grace of the animal kingdom. His work is characterised by clean lines, a keen eye for ornamental detail and the use of fine materials, making him a key figure in the Parisian art salons of the time and a privileged witness to the modern aesthetic of the early 20th century.
