RAYMOND SAVIGNAC (known as "Savignac" - 1907-2002) was a famous poster artist from Paris whose creations are now part of France's cultural heritage. The cow posing on a pedestal in Monsavon is his work. The bald man grimacing as a queue of cars rushes past his ears (Aspro advert), that's him too. Not forgetting the Seita gypsy. From Cinzano to Bic, Perrier to Vespa, iconic brands would not have a place in the popular imagination without Raymond Savignac. He began his career as a poster artist in 1935 at Alliance Graphique under the tutelage of Cassandre and Charles Loupot. But it was not until 1949 that he found success, thanks in particular to a famous advertisement for Monsavon milk soaps. He said of himself: "I was born at the age of forty-one, from the udders of the Monsavon cow (source: .Villefranche-de-Rouergue.fr and Wikipedia).
