Description
LUSTUCRU - c.1930
Original Moret earthenware advertising shell holder. Approx. 23 x 14.5 cm. "Georges Dreyfus-Seine et Marne / Cartier-Millon Lustucru Grenoble".
- Very good condition - egg cups not included.
Lustucru, which originated from a pasta factory founded in Grenoble in 1824 and bought by Louis Cartier-Millon in 1871, grew rapidly under the impetus of his heirs.
In 1911, following a poster competition, the designer Synave created the famous blue checkerboard, while Jean-Louis Forain inspired the name "Lustucru" from an old nursery rhyme, "C'est la mère Michel" (It's Mother Michel), thus giving rise to the name "Per 'Lustucru" for egg pasta.
