Description
YACCO - "world record oil" c.1935 "On 1 January 1935, YACCO held 85% of the world motoring records. Very rare original advertising display in double-sided cut-out lithographed sheet metal. 98 x 50 cm the boy alone and 126 x 50 x 65 cm with his stand. - Good, satisfactory and uniform condition. Complete on both sides, retaining its original base. The colours have faded, but the intensity is better preserved on one side. Surface with fine craquelure, perfectly stable. - A very rare example - intended for display in front of petrol stations. Depicts the "poulbot Parisien", the brand's young garage owner, in front of a crate and his oil can. Born out of the industrial environment of Hispano-Suiza, the Yacco brand was created in 1920 under the impetus of Jean Dintilhac, through the OMO subsidiary dedicated to lubricants. Yacco quickly specialised in engine oils, taking advantage of the boom in the automotive and aviation industries. In the 1920s and 1930s, the brand made its mark with an innovative strategy based on competition and records, notably with the Voisin cars (driven by César Marchand) and then the famous Citroën "Rosalie" cars, which set speed and endurance records.
