Rare icon of the Mother of God from Tikhvin
Tempera and gold on wood, in a magnificent 84 zolotniks (875 thousandths) vermeil oklad with embossed, chased, guilloched and finely engraved foliate scroll decoration, the nimbus and spandrels with cloisonné polychrome enamel decoration of scrolls, flowers, friezes of pearls and plant motifs.
