History This plate was part of the restocking of the Ropcha service, produced in 1827 under the reign of Nicholas I for the needs of the court at the Winter Palace. Commissioned under the supervision of Prince Piotr Volkonski, Minister of the Imperial Court, it formed a large set, around 1,500 pieces, intended for major official receptions. Initially known as the "ministerial service", part of it was transferred in 1853 to the Ropcha Palace, the imperial residence near Peterhof used for private stays and hunting. This move gave it its current name. Other pieces were commissioned during the reigns of Tsar Alexander II and Tsar Nicholas II, with a few modifications such as the rose window, which replaced the eagle.
